I'm Letting Sam Do Today's Post...

Sam Snead, that is. This has been a busy day and I'm too tired to write much (some of you are happy about that!), but I want to give you something that's simple to apply to your swing right now. It won't even require practice!

First, here's Sam making a variety of swings:

And here are two words I want you to remember:
  • Tempo. Doesn't Sam's swing look smooth? His swing is actually pretty fast -- that's how he got the name "Slammin' Sammy" -- but it's so smooth and relaxed that it seems almost effortless.
  • Roomy. That probably seems like a strange word to use, but it's perfect. Does Sam look like his swing is cramped? No, but he isn't reaching or stretching either. He just looks like he has all the room he needs to make a comfortable swing, and there's no anxiety over whether it will be a good one or not. He's just freewheeling through it.
Run this clip a few times and try to feel what Sam must have felt when he swung a club. It's a simple exercise that will help you relax and swing better.
