Russell Heritage on the Pete Cowen Move (Video)

I've run a number of posts that talk about this move. Russell calls it the Pete Cowen Move, and the fact is that many of you may recognize this as the same motion you use to throw a Frisbee. There are two ways you can build a swing -- either the lead hand or the trail hand can pace the swing, and in this move it's the lead hand. It's often overlooked but this is the way Ben Hogan approached the swing. If you don't believe me, just look at the drawings on pages 94 and 95 of Five Lessons -- you'll see that the rope connected to his trail hip is connected to his lead wrist. For those of you building your swing on the Hogan model, you need to be aware of this or you'll either hang back or get stuck in your downswing. Russell's (and Pete Cowen's) drill is a good way to practice this move.
