The LPGA Kraft Nabisco Championship gets its own post and limerick today, so I'll cut right to the chase.
In 2008 Anthony Kim won twice on the PGA Tour, then had a lousy 2009... much like fellow young gun Camilo Villegas. Camilo got off the schnide earlier this year, now Anthony joins him. Several players made runs at him -- Shaun Micheel put up an impressive 7-under, rookie Graham DeLaet and the increasingly competitive Charl Schwartzel also put up good numbers, but it was Vaughn Taylor who finally gave Kim a run. Taylor's bogey-birdie finish was good enough to force a playoff after Kim finished par-bogey... but 2 bunkers on the first playoff hole put the damper on Vaughn's run. Still, it's Vaughn's best showing since his second at Turning Stone last year, so it's something to build on.
Anthony had an unofficial win at the Kiwi Challenge last November, and now this. Is he "back"? Only time will tell... but it could make things interesting at Augusta this week.
This vict’ry at Shell may be breeding
The confidence Anthony’s needing
To win at the Masters –
But many disasters
Await those with hopes of succeeding.
