Twofer Tuesday: Valero Texas Open

Twofer Tuesday blows into San Antonio for the 100th edition of the Valero Texas Open.

Defending champion Jordan Spieth

And you might be surprised to learn that the Valero has ALWAYS been played in San Antonio, all 100 editions of it. TPC San Antonio’s Oaks Course is hosting the event for the 12th straight time and, if the winner isn't already in the Masters field, he'll pick up the last invite.

Of course, defending champion Jordan Spieth doesn't have to worry about that.

After last week's glorious performance by my Twofer Tuesday picks, I can't expect to be so lucky again. But that doesn't stop me from dreaming...

  • My first pick is Corey Conners. Corey Monday qualified at TPC San Antonio back in 2019 and calmly won the thing to get his first invite to Augusta. After finishing 3rd at the WGC Match Play last week, I'm hoping he'll show that winning form again this year.
  • And my other pick is Charley Hoffman. I admit I'm playing the odds this week but who could blame me? Charley has played this course 11 times and finished in the Top15 nine of them! Those finishes include a win in 2016, three runner-ups (one in 2019 and one last year) and a T3. If the event's leading money winner isn't a good bet, who is?

GC's live coverage starts Thursday at 4pm ET. The schedule for PGA TOUR LIVE's streaming coverage can be found at this link. And hopefully I can lasso myself another winner this week.
