Twofer Tuesday heads to the Land of Heavenly Milkshakes, aka Muirfield Village, for the Memorial Tournament.
Jack's Place always gives us a great event (and great milkshakes) in Ohio, and players absolutely love the hospitality as well as the course. Muirfield Village is a par-72 measuring over 7500 yards... and it plays every bit of its length. And it always gives us a great champion.
You may remember that Jon Rahm had a six-shot lead after three rounds last year, only to find out that he had tested positive for COVID-19 and had to WD before the final round, leaving Patrick Cantlay to take the title.
I really don't know who to pick this week, as nobody seems to be playing all that consistently. I went from picking a winner two weeks back to having the two best players that week completely miss the cut last week. So here are my best guesses as to who might show up this time.
- Matt Fitzpatrick has played well here before and he's played well recently. He's a player that I feel is close to getting a PGA Tour win and I think Muirfield Village could be the place.
- And I'm giving Will Zalatoris yet another chance. He's been playing so well and this venue seems to fit his strengths. It's his putting that's hit or miss; I'm gambling that this week it's a hit.
GC's coverage begins Thursday at 2pm ET and PGA TOUR LIVE's streaming schedule is included on this page. It's definitely possible that Jon Rahm avenges himself against the pandemic this week and wins after all... but I think he's a better choice for the US Open in a couple of weeks.
