The Champions Tour begins its three event Playoff series this week at the Dominion Energy Charity Classic.
So the Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs kick off in Virginia with a 72-player limited field event, although only 68 are entered. One of those watching this week will be Fred Couples, who shot that amazing 60 last Sunday to blitz the field at the SAS Championship. He qualified; he just decided to take the rest of the season off.
Not taking the season off is Bernhard Langer, the defending champion and only two-time winner of this event. He's only two wins from tying Hale Irwin's record win total of 45, a mark previously thought unreachable. But he's not only the Tour's oldest winner, he's also PGATOUR.COM's top pick in the Power Rankings for this event.
GC's tape-delayed coverage begins Friday at 7pm ET. Let's face it, the big story this week is whether Bernhard Langer can defend his title and move within one win of Irwin's record. With the strong competition on the Champions Tour this year, it should be quite a show!
