A proper turn away from the ball, as Jack Nicklaus always said, keeps your head position steady and keeps your hands pretty high at the top of your backswing. Russell has a couple of drills here that will teach you to get your hands up, your shoulders turned and still keep your head steady during your swing, which is important if you want to have consistent impact. Note that one of the drills doesn't even require a club, so you can do it inside where it's warm. That's a great drill for improving during the winter.
