Winner: Si Woo Kim
Around the wider world of golf: Jeremy Paul won the Bahamas Great Exuma Classic at Sandals Emerald Bay on the Korn Ferry Tour; the Continental Europe team won the inaugural Hero Cup on the DP World Tour; and Mateo Fernandez de Oliveira won the Latin America Amateur Championship.
When I made my Twofer Tuesday picks I had the right idea by picking Korean players. Problem was, I picked the wrong Koreans! I had Tom Kim (MC) and Sungjae Im (MC). As with last week, I have continued my excellent 2023 start!
- Top10s: 0 for 4 (0 Top5, 0 Top10)
- Winners: 0 for 2 events
- Top20s: 0 for 4
The newlywed may not have as many wins as his new bride Ji Hyun Oh, who has seven wins on the KLPGA, but I bet Si Woo's checking account gets some serious respect from her.
And I suspect the way he won also pleased his new wife. Not only did he post two 64s over the weekend, he finished his round Sunday with birdies on 17 and 18 to squeeze past Hayden Buckley (who posted 64s on Friday and Saturday).
This was Si Woo's fourth PGA Tour win, and let's not forget that he won the 2017 THE PLAYERS. He's building a nice little collection of wins, as well as a nice little collection of Limerick Summaries. Way to go, Si Woo... and congrats on the marriage!
You finish with two 64s,
Your play opens plenty of doors!
Si Woo birdied in,
Showed us all how to win—
You just keep on posting low scores!
