Since Ian Poulter has been ripping up the European Tour the last few weeks with some incredibly accurate driving, I thought this little video he made about alignment for Oakley UK (the guys best known for those wrap-around sunglasses) was especially timely. It probably won't tell you anything new, but some things are so fundamental that they need to be repeated over and over and over and over...
Especially when you're striping it like Poults. No matter how you feel about him or his sense of style, he certainly knows how to play the game.
This is 3+ straight tournaments (13 or 14 rounds) since he has been over par for 9 holes. Quite a stretch of good play. Now if he can just find a way to stop with the Monty rabbit ears and snarky comments when someone interrupts him. Let the caddy and marshalls handle the crowd control.
ReplyDeleteLet's call it "the Stricker effect." There are certainly indications that if he keeps getting a chance to win, he'll get better at how he handles it. His higher profile of the last year or so does seem to be knocking some of the rough edges off his public persona... and that's definitely good for the game. Poulter is the kind of quirky good player that fans love (or hate) to see.
